Captain's Quarters
Grenadines

St. Vincent & the Grenadines is a tiny Caribbean nation of gorgeous little islands and cays north of Grenada, west of Barbados, and south of St. Lucia. This is the pristine postcard-perfect Caribbean: warm and sunny weather, water so turquoise and clear it takes your breath away, and some of the best sailing conditions in the world. Most of the islands are much less developed than the more famous ones to the north (many are uninhabited), and the people are generally warm and wonderful.

Where We Go and What We Do
Captains Courageous begins on a Friday morning on the island of St. Vincent. We’ll meet at Blue Lagoon to board our spacious 51-foot sloop. Once aboard the yacht, you’ll have the opportunity to stow your gear and get oriented to sailboat living before our first short sail. You’ll learn some basics of boat handling and safety and start developing your sea legs. We’ll anchor early to allow time for swimming, snorkeling, and/or a little island exploration. After dinner aboard, we’ll spend the evening getting acquainted through a group process, and then allow the gentleness of the sea to lull us to sleep.

CCThe events and itinerary of the following 8 days will be determined in part by weather and water conditions and group preferences. However, each morning will begin with a period of inward focus and centering; each day will feature a variety of recreational and learning experiences including sailing, and most evenings we’ll end with a debrief of the day or a group activity. Our probable course will take us southward to Bequia (pronounced beck-way), the Tobago Cays, Union Island, Mayreau (pronounced may-ro or sometimes my-roo), and Petit St. Vincent, then looping back northward via Bequia and Mustique before returning to Saint Vincent. We will be back in the marina by noon on Saturday, the ninth day.

Activities
Throughout our adventure, you will have the opportunity to hone your sailing skills—or learn the basics of sailing—on an almost daily basis. You’ll practice steering, sail handling, anchoring, navigation, and boat mechanics. Aside from sailing, there’ll be opportunities for snorkeling, beachcombing, and perhaps some sea kayaking, windsurfing or other water sports. We have arranged scuba diving with local divemasters at some stunning underwater sites, and novices will have the opportunity to take a “resort course” so that they may dive as well.  CC We will also spend time ashore absorbing the beauty and culture of the islands and interacting with their warm and gentle people.

All along the way, your personal and professional growth experiences will be woven into our adventure, sometimes through structured experiential activities, sometimes through facilitated conversations, and always through mindful attunement to individual and group dynamics.  You'll enhance your communications, your teamwork, and your ability to lead yourself and others.  You'll return home relaxed, energized and expanded; and you'll find that what you learned with Captains Courageous applies daily in your work life, your home life, and your own interior life.

What to Bring
Travel lightly – you won’t need much, and there is limited stowage space aboard. You are likely to spend most of your time on the boat in a swimsuit, and dress on the islands is very casual. You’ll receive a packing checklist with your registration packet.

Travel
St. Vincent is served by small inter-island carriers connecting with international flights in St. Lucia, Barbados or Grenada.  You'll need to overnight in St. Vincent the evening before the adventure begins. You can make arrangements to fly out of St. Vincent on the evening of the last day, although most participants have enjoyed spending the night on the island for a more gradual transition back to life on land.  We will give you hotel and flight recommendations when you register.

You will need to have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date as well as your round-trip or onward ticket.

What It Costs
The cost is US$4200, which includes everything once you board the boat: your seminar tuition as well as accommodations aboard, meals and drinks, scheduled activities, government fees, equipment and materials. Your transportation to and from St. Vincent and related expenses are your responsibilityall hands tying a knot.
