An Extended Weekend in Paradise

April 8 - 11, 2010

Come aboard for an extended weekend of discovery, adventure, growth and connection. You'll sail the sparkling clear Sea of Abaco in the Bahamas, explore the quaint out-islands, and snorkel and swim among breath-taking coral reefs. You'll be challenged to higher levels of teamwork, leadership, communication, and trust as you and your fellow sailors navigate, crew and captain our boat.  You'll relax, you'll grow, and you'll have the time of your life.

Where We Go and WhenHopetown
Captains Courageous begins on Thursday afternoon, April 8, and ends about noon on Sunday, April 11, both at Marsh Harbour in the Abacos, Bahamas.  We'll visit picturesque Hopetown, Baker's Bay, Man-o-War Cay, and other special Abacos locales in addition to sailing, swimming and snorkeling in some of the clearest water you'll find anywhere.  From some locations in the U.S., you can leave your home Thursday morning to be on the boat in the afternoon.  You'll be back in Marsh Harbour on Sunday in time for midafternoon flights home.

What We Do and Why to Come

All that we do during Captains Courageous - including sailing the boat - is designed to help you discover more about what makes you happy, what makes you successful, and how to create more of both the inner and outer experiences you want in your life. Personal and professional growth experiences are woven seamlessly into a vacation-like tropical adventure, sometimes through structured experiential activities, sometimes through facilitated conversations and coaching, and always through mindful attunement to individual and group dynamics.Image

Throughout the adventure, you will have the opportunity to hone your sailing skills—or learn the basics of sailing. You’ll share in every aspect of running a saiboat: steering, sail handling, anchoring, navigating, as well as the care and feeding of the crew (that's you!). There’ll be opportunities for snorkeling, beachcombing, and perhaps other water sports. You'll also have time ashore to experience the people and culture of the Bahamian islands.

You'll return home relaxed, expanded and energized.  Back home, you'll find that your memories, awareness and skills as a Courageous Captain will serve you well in your professional life, your home life, and your own interior life.  And if that weren't enough, you'll have had an outrageously great time with a great group of people!

The Sailboat

You'll be sailing aboard "Lightheart," a 2007 Hanse 400e sloop.  She's fast and light on her feet and easy to sail.  She features teak decks and cockpit shade above,  and light-filled spaciousness below.

What to Bring

Travel lightly – you won’t need much, and sailboats have limited stowage. You are likely to spend most of your time aboard in a swimsuit or shorts, and dress on the islands is very casual. You’ll receive a packing checklist when you register.
