Meetings are often identified as the single biggest timewaster in the business world today. Yet many meetings are important, not only for sharing information and problem-solving, but also for developing and maintaining business relationships.

This course is a hands-on exploration of essential skills for planning, facilitating and participating in meetings that matter. Learn to make your meetings more effective, efficient, and appropriately collaborative.

Participants will learn to

  • Preplan meetings for maximum efficiency and effectiveness in terms of content, process and participants
  • Construct a dynamic meeting agenda
  • Conduct a collaborative meeting through its three phases
  • Facilitate and apply decision-making techniques appropriate to the situation
  • Set up effective follow-through mechanisms
  • Keep meetings on track
  • Get meaningful stakeholder involvement

Course Content

  • Preplanning: stakeholder analysis, desired outcomes, agenda, groundrules, logistics, pitfall analysis
  • Facilitation skills: maximizing effective participation
  • Balancing focus on people, process and product
  • Tools for making decisions
  • Action planning to assure implementation
  • Making win/win work in the real world.

Format
2 days. Offsite preferred.
